Welpman Springs
In 2002, Welpman Springs became a licensed spring by the State of Missouri. Today, Welpman Springs is a wholesale distributor of some of the highest quality spring water in the market. “I think one of the primary reasons our water is so pure,” owner Randy said, “is the fact that our land as never been farmed. There’s never been any runoff from crop or animal production.” Welpman Springs is tested on a regular basis by the FDA and by each of the bottling plants that purchase the spring water for their own resale needs across the nation. “Welpman Spring Water tastes so good because it has a superb mix of minerals which gives the water a very clean taste.”
A spring is a part of the hydrosphere. Specifically, it is any natural situation where water flows to the surface of the earth from underground. A spring is a place where water issues from the ground and flows or where it lies in pools that are continually replenished from below, thus, a spring is a site where the aquifer surface meets the ground surface. Springs are often classified by the volume of the water they discharge.
Welpman Springs could be considered a magnitude 3, because it has a flow rate of up to 1,000 gallons per minute (when flowing naturally, without the restriction of the pumping equipment). The largest springs are called "first-magnitude," defined as springs that discharge water at a rate of at least 748 gallons of water per second.
Magnitude Flow (gal/min, pint/min) Flow (gal/s)
1st magnitude >44880 gal/min 748 gal/s
2nd magnitude 4488 to 44880 gal/min 73.97 to 748 gal/s
3rd magnitude 448 gal/min to 4488 gal/min 7.397 to 73.97 gal/s
4th magnitude 100 to 448 gal/min 1.664 to 7.397 gal/s
5th magnitude 10 to 100 gal/min 0.1664 to 1.664 gal/s
6th magnitude 1 to 10 gal/min 63 mL/s to 0.1664 gal/s
7th magnitude 2 pint to 1 gal/min 8 to 63 mL/s
8th magnitude Less than 1 pint/min 8 mL/s
0 magnitude no flow (sites of past/historic flow)
